The Battle of Spanktown was fought in January of 1777, in the vicinity of the North Branch of the Rahway River, in what is now present day Rahway, New Jersey. The battle lasted only a few moments with the Rebels getting the best of the British, who, in toll, lost nearly one hundred men. Little is known about this minor skirmish of the American Revolution, especially its origin, though some speculate it all began as a small quarrel between a Badger and a Mole.
